For the past six years, I have been a proud member of the Tri-Valley FFA Chapter and have been involved in a variety of activities that have helped shape who I am today. I currently serve on the Meats Evaluation team and have previously competed on the Ag Sales team. These experiences have not only deepened my understanding of agriculture but have also taught me valuable life skills such as teamwork, communication, and perseverance—skills that I will carry with me throughout my life and career.
State Convention Leads to New Role
Earlier this month, during the 97th South Dakota State FFA Convention, I was incredibly honored to be elected as the 2025-2026 State FFA Reporter. To me, serving as a State Officer is more than just holding a title—it’s about stepping into a role of leadership, service, and personal growth. It’s about being someone who listens, inspires, and uplifts others.
What excites me most about this opportunity is the chance to connect with members from every corner of the state. I look forward to hearing their unique stories, celebrating their successes, and encouraging them to dream big. There’s something truly special about watching a freshman light up with excitement during their first session or seeing the pride on a senior’s face as they receive their State Degree. Those are the moments that remind me why I love being an FFA member.
Service to Others through agriculture
As a State Officer, I aim to serve with passion, humility, and a genuine desire to give back to the organization that has given so much to me. I am grateful for this opportunity and cannot wait to embark on this journey, creating memories and making an impact alongside my fellow officers and members.
FFA is an incredible program for young people to learn more about agriculture. To find out if your school has an FFA chapter or to learn more, visit their website. We are so proud of our intern, Ireland McAreavey, and her bright future!
